Vimeo has been working on an iPhone app for a long time, determined to make it as good as possible. And from the sound of it, they’ve succeeded, which means the wait has been worth it. Yesterday Vimeo has released a free iPhone app that allows users to watch Vimeo clips on their phone. More importantly, however, it also allows you to shoot and edit videos from the device!
The app provides access to Vimeo’s library of online video, but it emphasizes the ability to record, edit and upload your own videos to the service first and foremost. That’s a wise move for a service that has to differentiate itself from clear market leader YouTube, which comes pre-installed on every shipping iOS device.
